Candyce Farris Dixon is a Certified Public Accountant who has practiced in Huntsville for the past thirty-two years. After a ten-year tenure as a partner in a large, regional firm, she established her own practice in January, 1988. She holds memberships in the AICPA, TSPCA, and TACPA. She has served as a guest speaker on taxation, financial planning, asset protection, and governmental and financial institute auditing.
Mrs. Dixon graduated Summa Cum Laude from Sam Houston State University. Additional course work was completed at Rice University, University of Madrid, and University of Seville, Spain. Upon graduating from SHSU, she was selected by the faculty of the accounting department as the year's outstanding accounting graduate. Since graduation, she has continued her professional education by participating in numerous seminars and enrichment programs each year.
Locally, she has been active in a variety of organizations. She is a past president of the Huntsville BPW, past president of the Walker County United Way, and founder and charter president of the Huntsville Boys and Girls Club. For the Huntsville/Walker County Chamber of Commerce, she has served on the Board of Directors as treasurer, served on the Tourism Council, and graduated from the Huntsville Leadership Institute (Class #2). For the City of Huntsville, she has served on the Board of Directors for Huntsville's Promise and on the City Planning Commission (appointed by the mayor). For SHSU, she has served on the Alumni Board. Additionally, she served for many years on the finance committee of First Christian Church.
Her husband of thirty-seven years, Dale, is a retired superintendent of Hunstville ISD. He currently works as a consultant to area school superintendents through Region 6 Education Service Center. He is considered one of the top school finance advisors in the state. When needed, he also serves in an advisory capacity to firm clients. He has also been very active locally for many years. He currently serves as president of the Walker County Appraisal District board. The Dixons have three children, ages 23—33.
